Hellbite Lore
Hellbite: The Mirrored Plane
Hellbite is a dark reflection of our world, existing as an alternate reality where everything is distorted, corrupted, and twisted by a mysterious and malevolent force—the Unknown Devil. In this realm, the laws of nature seem familiar, yet perverse. It is a world where primal chaos reigns, and every element of life is warped into something darker and more dangerous.
Geography and Environment
Hellbite’s landscapes are similar to Earth, but more hostile. Where Earth has rolling hills, Hellbite might have jagged mountains with rivers of molten lava flowing through them. Dense forests on Earth become sprawling, dark jungles where the trees appear to have eyes that follow every movement. The skies are often perpetually overcast, and strange swirling red clouds blot out the sun. Winds howl through barren, cracked plains where no grass grows, but instead, thorny, poisonous vines creep out of the earth like tendrils.
The seas of Hellbite are not deep blue, but murky, viscous waters teeming with horrific, monstrous creatures that have evolved in this infernal environment. Some areas are perpetually flooded with ash and soot, where air is thick with smoke and the ground is scorched by fiery geysers.
Flora and Fauna
Life in Hellbite has been fundamentally altered by the Unknown Devil’s influence. Plants and animals once familiar have become horrific versions of their Earthly counterparts:
Flora: What once might have been a beautiful flowering tree on Earth is now a towering, blood-red behemoth with thick, dripping sap that burns on contact. Plants in Hellbite often have faces, eyes, and mouths that scream in agony when touched. Vines and thorns can grow into massive sentient tendrils that move and ensnare anything that comes too close. Flowers might burst open to release a noxious gas or attract deadly predators.
Fauna: Animals in Hellbite are often grotesque mockeries of their originals. Birds have twisted, skeletal wings, and they screech in a chilling chorus. Predators are more brutal, more cunning, with eyes that burn like embers. There are mutated insects the size of small dogs, their exoskeletons like armor, and serpents whose scales look like obsidian. All creatures in Hellbite are predatory, driven by an insatiable hunger that mirrors the corruption of the land.Humans in Hellbite
The few humans who exist in Hellbite are not native to the realm, but rather “slip-ups” — individuals who were either accidentally transported there or were caught in the folds of reality when the veil between worlds weakened. These humans are isolated, often surviving in small, fragmented tribes or as hermits in desolate, untouched corners of Hellbite. They are outcasts, rejected or forgotten by the Devil’s will, and their lives are spent fighting to survive against the twisted dangers of the realm. Some of these humans have adapted to the strange, hostile environment, using the corrupted flora and fauna to their advantage, crafting weapons and tools from the dark materials that are abundant in Hellbite. Others have descended into madness, worshiping the Unknown Devil as a god and trying to channel its malevolent power.
Corruption and the Unknown Devil
At the heart of Hellbite lies the Unknown Devil—an enigmatic force that has distorted everything it touches. It’s not a typical demon or deity but more of an omnipresent, insidious influence that spreads corruption, twisting everything in its path. No one knows its true form or origin, but its presence is felt everywhere. It is said that the Devil is not a singular entity but a series of whispers, shadows, and nightmares that haunt the land.
The corruption manifests itself in various forms:The land itself: Areas touched by the Devil’s influence are warped beyond recognition. The soil turns to ash, rivers run red with a thick, tar-like substance, and places once peaceful are now filled with shrieking, unnatural sounds.
Nightmares and madness: Humans and creatures that linger in Hellbite too long are often driven to madness. The Devil speaks in dreams, in fleeting visions, in fleeting shadows—sometimes driving the individual to insanity or forcing them into servitude.
The Devil’s minions: There are whispers of grotesque beings that serve the Unknown Devil—corrupted angels, demons, and the souls of those who failed in their attempts to escape the corruption. These creatures are often humanoid in shape but with features that are exaggerated to the point of horror. They are hunters, tormentors, and messengers of the Devil’s will.
The Veil Between Worlds
The portal between Earth and Hellbite is fragile, often opening without warning. Sometimes, entire families, groups of people, or individuals find themselves trapped in this twisted mirror world, with no way back. These portals are unpredictable and seem to open at the whim of the Unknown Devil itself, leading some to believe that the Devil manipulates these rifts to torment humanity.
